Dear Friends of Boston Green Academy,
If you’ve followed BGA for more than a year or two, you are familiar with the appeal letter that we send out annually around this time. Your support of our work is crucial to our being able to provide our students with the rigorous, engaging, innovative learning environment they need to succeed in college and career.
Over the years, many of you have provided repeated support in response to our appeals, for which we are deeply grateful. Your contributions make an enormous difference in our programs and our support services for students and families, many of which are not funded through our district budget allocation. This year, however, has been extraordinary in many respects and rather than send you a five-page appeal listing all of our initiatives and thanking all of our partners, we took another approach. You should have been receiving bi-monthly e-invitations to unlock pages on a supplementary BGA website showcasing several of our initiatives in greater depth than an appeal letter allows. I hope you have found it interesting and rewarding and that you have discovered even more about BGA than you expected.
BGA has started the 2024 school year strong. As the vestiges of the pandemic recede, our students continue to demonstrate resilience and academic growth. Our incredibly hard working staff continues to win numerous grants and awards. As a result, BGA has been recently featured in the Boston Globe and the Bay State Banner and we were honored to be named a finalist for the EdVestors School on the Move Award, given annually to the most improved Boston Public School (their video about BGA, posted on our website, is quite moving.). As always, we are proud of our progress, which is significant, but we are not satisfied. BGA continues to grow and improve, and your support allows great things to happen for our students. We hope that you will consider supporting us once again.
BGA is a special place, a model urban green school that empowers young people to be leaders in the sustainability of our community and world. As we enter an exciting new chapter, we look forward to all that our students and school will achieve. We promise to keep you updated as we progress and innovate, and hope that you will visit with us or stay in touch. We are excited and grateful for your support– please know that it makes a real difference.
With gratitude on behalf of our entire school community,
Matt Holzer
Head of School
